My employer, like so many others, cut some jobs last year but it is not an ongoing program of job cuts and I have no reason to believe that there will be any more. Does this scenario exclude me from any unemployment insurance?

A: Further to your email.

The underwriters have confirmed that you would be eligible to apply for cover. However, please note there will be an initial exclusion period at the start of the policy for unemployment.

How ironic as parts of the country suffer a hosepipe ban because of the drought, other parts of the country are experiencing flooding. But it gets worse many areas that are in the drought zones are also in flood risk zones.

The problem is that as more areas become flood risk areas, the property owners in those areas will find it increasingly difficult and expensive to obtain flood risk house insurance.

They may find that the only buildings and contents insurance that they can obtain for previously flooded properties carries a very high excess on flood damage or exclude flood risk altogether.

We can usually help to source suitable and competitive house insurance for flooded or at flood risk properties.
A: Unfortunately our income protection insurance does not provide joint cover, you would have to make two separate applications.

Under the terms and conditions of the income protection insurance you can cover up to £1500 or 50% of your gross monthly income.

I want to confirm that when I transfer the policy I won’t have an initial exclusion period?
I am also looking to increase the amount I am covered for as currently am only protecting the mortgage payment so would like to check which other household expenses I can include.

A: The initial exclusion period will be waived on the amount of cover on your existing policy. However, any amount over that will be subject to an exclusion period.
As this is an income payment protection insurance policy it can be used to fund any spending you like.

A: If you have had your existing payment protection insurance policy in place for at least six month, and have not claimed under that policy in the last 24 months, then the initial exclusion period on our payment protection insurance will be waived, for the cover you are transferring as long as you have no gap in cover.

I do not consider this is likely to happen but I would like to ascertain the limits of the cover before committing to it.

A: A claim on the unemployment part of the policy is made when you lose your job though no fault of your own, so enforced redundancy. If your employer went bankrupt you would be covered as you lost your job through no fault of your own.

I would need it for 5 yrs and I would be grateful if u could let me know what would be my monthly payments and I need a suggestion whether I can cancel my payment protection plan with my current bank.

A: To be able to quote we would need to know your monthly loan repayment, or the amount you wish to insure monthly and your age as this is an age related product.

The payment protection insurance policy that we provide is a monthly contract. If you were to make a claim the maximum claim period is 12 months.

Do not cancel your current policy until you know you have been accepted for a new one.
