Q: I have the following questions concerning your Loan Protection Policy:
1) I have worked abroad, in the USA, for a multinational company for the last 3 years. I was head hunted back into the UK and quit my US job in April. I have a record of continuous employment abroad and commenced my new UK job in May, within one month of leaving my US one. Am I eligible for your Unemployment insurance policy immediately?
2) I wish to purchase my first house in the UK and the mortgage commences in mid-June. Would your policy cover me immediately from the start of the mortgage or is there a delay?
3) I have private medical insurance, provided by my employer. Thus, I do not really need the medical cover included within your policy. Is the policy cheaper without medical cover?
Thank you for your clarification of the above questions
A: Thank you for your email.
If you have had a gap of more than 14 days unpaid between your jobs you would not be eligible for imediate unemployment insurance cover under our policies.
I have also checked with our main underwriters and they have confirmed that you would not be eligible to apply for this insurance until you have be working in the UK for a UK registered company for six months.
